Nationwide winners impress in the 2022 Sony Planet Photography Awards
A breathtaking selection of photos kick off the 2022 Sony Planet Photography Awards, with the Countrywide & Regional Awards announcement spanning everything from daring drone pictures and beautiful animal portraits to transcendent cityscapes.
In its 15th 12 months, the Sony Globe Images Awards has sent a compelling snapshot of worldwide modern images from a massive 340,000 picture submissions. This 1st wave of award winners focuses on the ideal single photographs from 61 international locations.
Every National & Regional Award is picked from the Open up group in the competitors. The Open category is cost-free for all to enter and spans 10 thematic types. This year’s Open up competitors attracted a lot more than 170,000 entries.
Highlights from this year’s remarkable crop involve Yih Chang Chew’s aerial shot of the Penang Bridge freeway. Profitable the Malaysian countrywide award, the image cleverly frames the shot to resemble a horizontal Eiffel Tower.
Profitable the prime shot for Iceland is a scary snap from Viktor Einar Vilhelmsson that frames a very small figure strapped to the edge of a cliff looking at significant glaciers drop to the ground.
Other highlights include Jenny Zhao winning the leading United States shot for a charming snap of a polar bear cub, a fantastically timed snap of a bike in Vietnam leaving a path of flowers, and a dynamic image of two sumo wrestlers flying out of a ring.
