A breathtaking selection of photos kick off the 2022 Sony Planet Photography Awards, with the Countrywide & Regional Awards announcement spanning everything from daring drone pictures and beautiful animal portraits to transcendent cityscapes.

In its 15th 12 months, the Sony Globe Images Awards has sent a compelling snapshot of worldwide modern images from a massive 340,000 picture submissions. This 1st wave of award winners focuses on the ideal single photographs from 61 international locations.

Highlights from this year’s remarkable crop involve Yih Chang Chew’s aerial shot of the Penang Bridge freeway. Profitable the Malaysian countrywide award, the image cleverly frames the shot to resemble a horizontal Eiffel Tower.

Profitable the prime shot for Iceland is a scary snap from Viktor Einar Vilhelmsson that frames a very small figure strapped to the edge of a cliff looking at significant glaciers drop to the ground.
